Sweet New Packaging

Each year skincare companies use lots of plastic in their packaging. Most of this plastic is made from fossil fuels, which are non-renewable and release carbon dioxide which contributes to global warming.

Our Packaging is Made From Sugarcane Plastic.

The bottles that BioB products come in are different. That’s because BioB tries to be as natural as possible from the inside out. Instead of using plastic from fossil fuels, BioB bottles are made from sugarcane plastic – a renewable source that needs little more than natural rainfall to grow. Not bad, huh?

Our bottles are made from:

  • sugarcane;
  • recycled plastic (for labels).

Grown on sustainable land in Brazil, the sugarcane is transformed into ethanol that is used to create a ‘green’ polyethylene. The resulting biopolymer has the same properties as conventional high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and is an eco-friendly, potentially carbon-negative alternative – saving CO2 rather than producing it.

Fun fact: Sugarcane absorbs CO2 from the air as it grows, therefore, it is nowhere near as harmful to the environment.

Our friends at M&H, who produce our BioB bottles, every kilogram of the green sugarcane plastic produced results in 3.09kg of CO2 removed from the air.

As for our labels – according to Avery Dennison MGE our labels are printed on a white polyethylene film with 30% Post-Consumer Recycled(PCR) content. The adhesive complies with the European food directive 1935/2004/EC and 10/2011/EC, FDA 175.105.
